November 5th: I'm the Main Character

Today was realizing that life is what you make it. My roommates and I went to a crystal shop today. I'd never bought any before (it's for the vibes). I got a unique Clear Quartz and Picasso Jasper.

The jasper is "said to make for an excellent meditation stone. It also has the ability to renew lost friendships or to help guide during relationship transitions. This stone is said to promote inner clarity and interpretation of one's own thoughts." It's supposed to help with creativity and that's the reason I got it. They were stupid cheap and authentic crystals, which was the best part.

We also attended an open blackout poetry session that the college put on. I hadn't exactly done anything like that before, either. I felt a little out of place. I'd always thought that blackout defaced books and was very permanent. Being indecisive has its downsides but I shoved aside my insecurities and just looked at the words.

Something clicked, then.

I picked up the marker, tied up my hair and rolled up my sleeves. Then just let the creativity flow. No expectations had freed me to just make something new from previously written works.

I did more than eight sections of blackout poetry, even marking up some of the pages taped on the wall. I took extra pages with me and continued them in my dorm. Something (maybe it was a crystal or just my consciousness) allowed me to focus on the day in front of me. It allows you to let go of so much stress.
